Srinagar, Apr 03 (KNO): Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam on Thursday said that ulema from Kashmir will support all Muslim personal boards to fight against the Waqf Amendment Bill (UMEED) passed by the Parliament and would also move the Supreme Court to challenge it. Addressing the media persons here, the Grand Mufti as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, “The Bill passed in the Lok Sabha is against the Muslims and will create issues like Mandir and Masjid.” “We are keenly watching the developments in this regard and will support all Muslims personal boards in case their decision of fighting against the move will be stronger. Besides, we will also knock the doors of the Supreme Court to get justice,” he said, adding, “We have decided to convene a meeting of Ulema associated with different sects. It will be convened and the date is being decided with Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir.” Furthermore, he said that the “Waqf Amendment Bill known as UMEED is a start of Na Ummedi (disappointment)” He also said that a total of 232 people voted against the bill, which is not a small number and indicates that 45% population is against the Waqf Amendment Bill—(KNO)
